Malaysian Railway Academy (MyRA), formerly known as Akademi KTM was established as a private higher educational institution under the Private Higher Educational Institutions section 52 of the companies act 1965 in October 1991. Managed by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), MyRA offers a wide range of educational opportunities in the field of training, education and development.
It all started in January 2009 with the establishment of the Learning Resource Centre in Batu Gajah, Perak. At that time, it offered a training and education development known itself to become the hub for Railway Related Industrial professional and advance technical training centre. In terms of Training and Education Development MyRA have identified 5 Categories as Development Program, Management Program, Safety Program, Operational and technical Program and Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran(SLDN).
MyRA’s existing strength was built through its excellent track record and the agreement of memorandum of understanding (MOU) between University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB)ON 18 November 2011. MyRA has grown to be among the biggest Bumiputra private educational institution spread in the areas of Railway Engineering Technology.
MyRA also established local collaboration with the public and private universities such as local technical and the International Railway institution with continuous knowledge sharing globally amongst The Rail Organization In Malaysia, ASIA, ASEAN & The Union International Railway (UIC Europe), thus Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) under the Minitry of Human Resources to develop National Occupational Skill Standards(NOSS).
Now, MyRA is proud of its history that has brought continuous educational growth into the future. In recent times, we are able to extend our affordable quality programmes to many individuals in the effort to enhance knowledge and skills. It has become our absolute commitment to provide training and education to perform job effectively and ensure that KTMB achieves its corporate objectives, besides providing a professional qualifications by broadening awareness of the working environment helps to develop individual performance, thus assuring students a career and life enhancing investment for the future which new skills can be acquired and existing skills developed, to allow all staff to give maximum contribution to benefit KTMB.
